As this concept exists in various traditions including the cultures and religions – especially, Islam- whereby the Arabic term used in describing al-ayn, translated as an evil eye- is described, this particular evil eye consists of any glance given as a token of envy, hatred or malice or otherwise intended to do a person a harm. God in his wisdom acknowledged evil eye because He recognizes human strengths and offers believers all-important weapons such as particular Dua to Save from the Evil Eye .

Understanding the Evil Eye in Islam
The evil eye is negative energy resulting from jealousy or admiration from other people. However, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recognizes the reality of the evil eye when he said, “The evil eye is real, and if anything were to overtake the divine decree, it would be the evil eye” (Sahih Muslim). Islam teaches us that evil eye does exist, while Allah alone has power to everything and will protect us as He guides us.
Evil eye may be manifested in an individual as sudden physical or mental fatigue, unexplained illness, feelings of distress, or a sudden change of circumstances. Although the evil eye is harmful, Allah advises His followers to take refuge in Him and depend on Him.
Powerful Duas to Protect Against the Evil Eye
The best way to ward off the evil eye is by reciting specific duas and effects of the evil . Here are some powerful supplications that can help shield you and your loved ones from harm.
1. Ayat al-Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:255)
The verse of the Throne, or Ayat al-Kursi, is a mighty reminder of His supremacy over all things. Its recitation will save one from all kinds of harm, including the evil eye.
Arabic Text:
Allah is He except whom there is no god, the living, Self-Subsisting [one], neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. His is what is before them and what is behind them. And no wonder that he grasps nothing of the knowledge except that which He wills. His is the affair, of the heavens and the earth, and the abasement of His Throne extends over the earth, and He is the Great One, the Exalted.
“Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:255).
2. Surah Al-Falaq (Surah 113)
The other important protective dua to be included in daily prayers is Surah Al-Falaq. This Dua is also for guarding oneself against evil, the evil eye, envy, and jealousy.

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ * مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ * وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ * وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ * وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ
“Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of daybreak, from evil of what He has created, and from evil of darkness when it grows and sets, and from evil of those who blow over knots, and from evil of an envious man when he envies” (Surah Al-Falaq, 113:1-5).
3. Surah An-Naas (Surah 114)
Recitation of Surah An-Naas further fortifies this with seeking a protection in Allah from being victimized and harmed of people having bad intentions,

قول اعوذ برب النّاس * ملاك الناس * اِلاب الناس * من شرالوسوس الخنّاس * الذي يوجدس فى صدور النّاس * منا الجنيّ والناس.
“Say: I take refuge with the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the whisperer who withdraws, who whispers in the hearts of mankind, among jinn and among men” (Surah An-Naas, 114:1-6).
4. Dua for Seeking Protection from Envy and Harm
The specific dua taught by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is that used for protection from envy, harm, and the evil eye.
Arabic Text:
أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
Transliteration:
“A’udhu bikalimat-illahi at-tammati min sharri ma khalaq.”
Translation:
“I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.”
This dua can be recited in the morning and evening as a powerful shield against all forms of harm, including the evil eye.
Practical Tips for Daily Protection Against the Evil Eye
Consistent Recitation: Recite Ayat al-Kursi, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Naas each morning. And evening, as recommended by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Remember Allah Often: Making Dhikr a Habit Dzikir or remembrance of Allah is a spiritual protection that can be accomplished in a very profound manner.
Ruqyah: Perform ruqyah to yourself and your loved ones regularly, especially if there are signs of envy and ill effects.
Shun boastful display: Carefully heed the timing and manner with which you demonstrate your boons. Be it with others or social media platforms. Lest greatness or bounty bring involuntary covetous glances towards you.
Have faith in Allah’s protection
Allah’s protection is stronger than the evil eye. We can protect ourselves from harm through frequent recitation of these duas and complete trust in Allah. Allah’s protection will give us peace, safety, and a way of living confidently without fear of others’ envy.
